F2 | Feldenkrais for Pianists
Feldenkrais students and practitioners,
in English (German translation if necessary)

Alan Fraser (Hawaii ’92) will present the work he has done as a concert pianist and Feldenkrais practitioner in developing strategies for evolving a more capable piano technique and addressing the problem of performance injury. This year the emphasis will be mainly on practical work with pianists as the best way to quickly touch the heart of the matter. The theme will be to show how strategies innate to Feldenkrais can be applied in situations other than the classic FI or ATM – how we can do Feldenkrais while working with pianists, without ever naming it as such. Thus it touches on an important wider question in our work: the pragmatic and tangible application of Feldenkrais to daily activities.

Canadian pianist Alan Fraser gives recitals and teaches piano and Feldenkrais throughout Europe and N. America. He is author of the book, The Craft of Piano Playing: A New Approach to Piano Technique, now available in German and on DVD as well.
